Dr. Oz is an American-Turkish television host, author, former political candidate, professor emeritus, and retired cardiothoracic surgeon. His real name is Mehmet Cengiz Oz. He is also recognized by his title as a doctor, "Dr." Oz. Oz, a Wilmington, Delaware native and the son of Turkish immigrants, attended both Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania before earning his degrees. Oz holds dual citizenship in the US and Turkey. He had to finish sixty days of compulsory training in the Turkish Army in the 1980s in order to maintain his Turkish citizenship.
