Jayquan Phillips, 25, of Newport News, has been arrested and charged with murder, shooting into an occupied building, assault, felon in possession of a firearm, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the department.

These accusations are related to a situation where Phillips is accused of using a weapon to commit a crime. Officers were informed that a shooting had occurred on the 900 block of 37th Street on November 27 at 11:49 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, they found a male adult victim who had been shot. The victim has since been identified as Grayson. It was discovered that he had died at 11:56 p.m. The police announced that they are done looking for suspects after they apprehended Phillips. The inquiry is still ongoing.
