Richard D. Gilbert "Rick" of Punta Gorda, FL dead, obituary

Richard D. Gilbert "Rick" of Punta Gorda, FL (formerly of Rockport, MA) died on November 16, 2022, surrounded by his family, at Tidewell Hospice House in Sarasota.
Rick was born on January 28, 1956 in Burlington, Vermont. Rick Gilbert Peterson is the son of June (Brewer) Gilbert and the late Donald R. Gilbert.
Rick is survived by his son, Ryan D. Gilbert of Rockport, MA; his daughter Keri Gilbert Wilson, her husband, Brian Mahoney-Wilson, and their two children, Teagan Jean and Chase Richard Wilson, whom he adored, of Grand Rapids, MI and Rockport, MA, respectively.

He is also survived by his younger sister, Leanne and husband Ed Berk of Boxford, MA; his brother, Robert Gilbert of Ft. Myers, FL; his devoted partner, Brenda DuFour; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Rick graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 1974 and Lowell Tech in 1978, where he earned his engineering degree. Rick's success earned him a Lifetime Engineering Achievement award from UMass Lowell, an honor in which he took great pride.
Until his retirement, Rick was the founder, owner, and President of Chassis Engineering, Inc. in Gloucester, MA. Rick had previously worked for Varian in Beverly and American Can in Geneva NY.
