Death of Maya Staples Maya Staples, a teen from Utah, died on November 18th as a result of injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian accident. She died at the age of sixteen. Maya Staples was walking east across Main Street at 2025 North in Centerville at 11:28 a.m. on November 9 when she was hit by a southbound Toyota Highlander. According to Centerville Police Chief Paul Childs, Staples was in a marked school crossing when she was hit and thrown 60 to 80 feet.

The cause of death of Maya Staples

Staples suffered serious injuries and was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray by EMS. At the hospital, she was later pronounced dead. Staples' sister confirmed her death from her injuries on Wednesday. Her family and the authorities provided no additional information.

Maya Staples was born on December 7, 2005, in Centerville, Utah, to Joe and Kim Staples; she is the favored younger sister of Dani Shelley (Kelton), Jackson (Tara), Eric Staples, and Luke Staples. She had a brilliant smile and an upbeat attitude that drew people to her. She made friends at Viewmont High School, Career Path High School, and her workplace, Arctic Circle. Maya was especially thoughtful to people who were not used to receiving kindness from others.

Maya Staples Obituary Memorial Services will be held at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, where friends and family may gather from 4:00-6:00 p.m. before the service. The services will be streamed live.
